Making a complaint

A member of the public or a member of the Association can make a complaint about a member of Speech Pathology Australia (the Association) or a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist if they believe there has been a breach of the Association's Code of Ethics.

To submit an enquiry about an issue related to the Code of Ethics or make a complaint to Speech Pathology Australia, you can click on this link: make a complaint or email the ethics team: [email protected]

Complaints are received by the Manager, Ethics in the Association's National Office, who will be able to provide an explanation of the complaints process in detail.

Complaints about speech pathologists can also be made under the National Code of Conduct: National Code of Conduct or other relevant authorities such as the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission

Ethics Board

In 2000, the Association's Ethics Board was established to promote ethical practice, manage and, when necessary, to enforce the Code. Members of the public or members of the profession are encouraged to make a complaint if they believe there has been a breach of the Association’s Code of Ethics.

National Code of Conduct

The National Code of Conduct (the Code) is a minimum set of standards of conduct for all health service providers who are not regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Speech pathologists are included in this group of health professionals.
